Before the arrival of cube tech, most people survived by banding together in small nomadic tribes. These groups would hide from the evil that surrounded them by hiding in caves, often lit by crude torches, and even a handful of small villages were able to spring up amidst the chaos. All these settlements ended the same ways. A careless member left a door open and monsters came in, someone wasn't paying attention and ended up turning the front door, along with themselves, into a crater, or in many cases they were simply overrun. Usually the inhabitants of the ruined hideouts fled and tried to restart elsewhere, but an ambitious leader by the name of Lunarblaze made it his life's mission to put an end to this.
Lunar gathered people from as many of the little mobile tribes as he could find, and banded them together into a group that was later dubbed 'The Collective'. Together, they built a city able to stand against the evil that they were forced to coexist with. Alleyways were kept brightly lit, homes never stopped putting out light, and the city became a glowing ball of hope, impervious to attacks from the outside worlds. At least for a while.
One day, after almost a decade of peace, the sky lit up with an unnatural light. A massive figure could be seen high above the clouds with dozens of smaller objects circling it, dealing thunderous blows and tearing pieces away, allowing them to fall to the planet below. The Collective was hammered with these burning chunks of metal, crushing the walls and shattering homes. The evil was once again able to assault the city, and the night lit on fire with blood and murder. Eventually, the fighting in the heavens ceased, and day marked the end of the battle below. Though the village was ruined and many lives were lost, the inhabitants were rewarded for their will to survive. among the burning rubble of their former homes, a huge piece of the warring bodies above had fallen on Lunar's own home, and from it, an unlimited opportunity for progress arose.
Under Lunar's guidance, the city walls were quickly patched, and made to stand tall. Several layers were built above the main city, and after months of work, The Collective rose from the ground. The technology became known as 'Cube Tech', and the cube itself became a bastion of hope in a dark dangerous world.
from the ranks of normal citizens with access to Cube Tech, dozens of new technologies sprang up. A member named Dan developed an engine that was able to push evil out of the cube. Even in pitch blackness, no monster could make itself whole. Sawada made forms of teleportation became a reality, and eventually, Accept developed a way to strike back against the horrors below. But sadly, peace never lasts in our world.
Lunar, an icon to his people, became corrupt. His constant need for more powerful cube tech drove it to a frighting height. Expanding upon the technology developed by Accept, he began the development of super-weapons, and started actively seeking out the 'sources of evil'. Eventually, he found one. Buried under a thriving village. Without a second thought, Lunar turned the city, its inhabitants, and the source, into a smoldering crater. Horrified by his former friends actions, Dan abandoned the Cube, and took his own group of followers with him. Lunar, heart broken and abandoned, publicly blamed Accept for the destruction of the village, and banished him from the cube.
In his former friends absence, Lunar's scientists continue their work, developing the most cutting edge Cube tech. His Army constantly trains, waiting for the discovery of the next source of evil. Even his civilian structure brave the lands below, searching out gold to better their nations cause.
"The machine creates its own special brand of death, and there is nothing that can stop it."
